how does an electronic/computer design engineer performs his job?
OK. I am a computer engineering student and so far what i have learned about designing circuits is one or two of following options.
1….take Laplace transform.
2….take Fourier transform.
3….take z transform.
4….solve ordinary or partial differential equation.
my question is does an electronic design engineer spends all his day doing this stuff? or he does something else. are we actually somekind of mathematicians or what?

These course work is for you to learn the basics of which all electronics systems are based on. In order for you to design a filter network you will need to use Laplace transform or s-parameters. Fourier transform is used in many signal processing technology such as image compression, as in JPEG, MPEG, or digital signal modulation methods such as OFDM. Z transform is used in digital signal processing as in digital filters. Without understanding the math behind it then you will not be able to design the circuits or the computer algorithms that makes things work. Yes electronics is math and physics as applied to real things that work.
