Computer Networking
Pc networking is a process of sharing info and shared resources involving two or much more linked desktops. The shared resources can include printer, Fax modem, Difficult disk, CD – DVD Rom, Database as well as the data files. A laptop or computer community might be divided into a little or local location community, a networking amongst computer systems in a building of a office (LAN), medium sized network (MAN), a community in between two offices in a city and Wide network (WAN) a community in between the pcs, one is locally plus the other is often thousands of miles away in any other country of the world.
WAN connectivity is achieved by a network device identified as “Router”. The world wide web may be the world’s largest WAN network, where millions of desktops from all over the globe and linked with each other.
Networking may be the practice of linking two or much more pcs or devices with one another. The connectivity may be wired or wireless. A personal computer community can be categorized in various methods, depends on the geographical location as mentioned above.
You can find two principal types of the pc network client-server and peer to peer. In the client server computing, a personal computer plays a main role recognized as server, where the files, data in the form of web pages, docs or spread sheet files, video, database & resources are placed.
All the other personal computers inside the client/server community are called clients and they get the information from the server. Within the peer to peer network all the computer systems play the same role and no computer act as a centralized server. Inside the major businesses around the world client-server community model is in major use.
A community topology defines the structure, design or layout of a community. You’ll find unique topologies like bus, ring, star, mesh, hybrid etc. The star topology is most commonly used network topology. Inside the star topology, all the computer systems in the community are linked with a centralized device such as hub or switch. Thus forms a star like structure. If the hubs/switch fails to work for any reason then all the connectivity and communication amongst the desktops of a network will be halted.
Within the network, a common communication language is used by the personal computers and the community devices and this language is known as protocols. The most commonly used and popular protocols on the world wide web and inside the home and other networks is called TCP/IP. TCP/IP is not a singleprotocol but it is a suite of several protocols.
